Experts dwell on treatment of paediatric diseases

The Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Patiala, organised a workshop on lab evidence in paediatric infectious diseases here. Pediatricians from government and private hospitals participated in the event. Dr KG Goyal, President, IAP, Patiala, inaugurated the function.

Dr Harinder Singh Raikhy, organising secretary, IAP, Patiala, said pediatric infectious disease treatment in our country is still presumptive even though investigational facilities are being made more and more available. 

“Presumptive therapy results in either over or irrational treatment. Antibiotics regularly prescribed for viral infections increases antimicrobial resistance,” he said — TNS
