The department of history of MCM DAV College for Women organised a lecture on Modern Heritage of Chandigarh.

Dr Yojna Rawat, chairperson, USOL, PU, and general secretary MN Sharma, Architectural Society, Chandigarh, briefed students about society and impressed upon the need to sensitise youth to the rich architectural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Deepika Gandhi, director, Le Corbusier Centre, Chandigarh, urged the students to develop conceptual thinking on the significance of heritage.

She added that the contribution of modern architecture was unparalleled in terms of spatial and social innovations.

Photo artist Surinder Dhami showcased his works with the aim of apprising the students of the important role of photography in preserving culture and heritage.

Lauding the initiative of the department of history, principal Dr Nisha Bhargava said the unique architectural marvel of Chandigarh never fails to mesmerise people and tells many untold tales and thus, should be celebrated and preserved. — TNS
