Expert asks students to upcycle all forms of waste

A three-day conference on ‘Greatness out of small things’ concluded at Punjab Public School (PPS) here today.

Shikha Shah, a Varanasi-based entrepreneur and founder of Scrapshala said, “There is no away in throw-away” and urged the students to upcycle all forms of waste to permanently resolve the issue of waste management in the country.

She told the young delegates about how waste products could be modified to create useful items.

Col (retd) Karaminder Singh, Secretary of a society for the welfare of the handicapped, shared how his organisation takes up the challenging task of educating the specially-abled children. The students also visited the schools for special children at Patiala.

More than 200 young delegates (age group 11-13) from from 19 schools, including Indian High School, Dubai, Chittagong Grammar School, Bangladesh and Indian School, Oman participated in the conference. The students also performed during cultural programme to showcase the folk dances and music of their respective regions.  The event was held under the aegis of Round Square, a global network of more than 150 schools that share a common educational philosophy. PPS Nabha has been a member of Round Square since 2009.
