An induction training course for 120 new junior resident doctors (JRDs) was held today at Government Medical College, Patiala.

Principal Dr KK Aggarwal advised the JRDs about patient care, behaviour and empathy towards patients.

Dr Aggarwal emphasised on the need for politeness, caring attitude and prescription of generic medicine.

He said there was a facility of 24-hour-lab at the Rajindra Hospital and no tests of patients should be conducted from outside. Medical Superintendent (MC) of Rajindra Hospital Dr Rajan Singla apprised about government programmes.

The students were told about laboratory requisitions and procedures, dealing with trauma patients in emergency, dealing with medical emergencies and coordinating with other departments.
