Chandigarh, February 15

Chopper ride will be available for Rs 2,400 per person during the three-day Rose Festival to be held at Rose Garden here from February 23. The Municipal Corporation has finalised Heritage Aviation for the event. Last year, a chopper ride came at Rs 3,500 per person.

Officials said it would be seven to 10-minute ride and would take off from the Parade Ground. The route, however, is under consideration.

“Two companies had shown interest in offering chopper ride at the Rose Festival. Heritage Aviation has been selected for the event,” said MC Additional Commissioner Anil Kumar Garg.

The corporation had written to several aviation companies in this connection.

The chopper ride was introduced at the fest last year. A large number of people had turned up for the ride.

Encouraged with the response last year, the officials decided to make it an added feature at the fest this year too. “We expect more crowed this time, as charges are less than what prevailed last year. Moreover, awareness too has increased,” said an official.

Meanwhile, preparations for the event are in full swing at the venue. A total of 14,000 rose plants of 829 different varieties are being put on display during the fest.

The MC has earmarked about Rs 55.67 lakh for holding the event.
