Elderly woman’s body found at lake

Chandigarh, January 30

The body of an elderly woman was found at Sukhna Lake under mysterious circumstances this morning.

The body of the woman, identified as Ram Kaur (70), a resident of Sector 23, was found floating near the police post at the lake.

Inspector Harjeet Kaur, SHO of the Sector 3 police station, said the body was noticed by the patrolling staff.

There were no injury marks on the body. Ruling out foul play, the police are suspecting it to be a case of suicide. The woman was wearing spectacles and slippers.

The SHO said the victim’s family claimed that she was mentally upset.

The victim had left the house in the morning without informing anyone. A case has been registered.
