Edu expo opens window to higher studies

Students from various schools of the tricity, along with their parents, thronged The Tribune ‘Edu Expo-2019’ at Hotel Shivalikview here today.

The expo aimed at introducing students to opportunities for higher studies and career choices.

The participants received first-hand information on various career choices and free counselling through several reputed institutions.

Chitkara University, Chandigarh University, Shoolini University, DIT University, IAS Abhimanu and Thapar Institute were among 20 educational institutions which provided students with required guidance.

A majority of the students were keen on asking questions about the future aspects of engineering, medical sciences, physiotherapy and management courses. Queries related to entrance examination and fee structure were put forth by participating students. Others were seen enquiring about the employment opportunities and placements after the completion of their courses.

Other participants included Dronacharya IAS, Amity Global business school, Chandigarh, Doaba University, WWICS, Caanwings , New World Overseas, Mantrin Institute, Sri Sukhmani Group, Universal Group of Institutes, Touchstone Immigration, Amity University and MD House (Rivansun Career).

Representatives from Chitkara University and other educational institutions said the students hailing from the tricity were seeking knowledge about the courses being offered and their prospects.

On this occasion, The Tribune also felicitated the students who excelled in Class X and Class XII CBSE exam results this year. An appreciation certificate was given to students, along with a memento.

Around 400 students from various schools — Shishu Niketan School, Sector 66; DC Montessori School, Mani Majra ; Tribune Model School, Sector 29; St Xavier’s School; Carmel Convent School; SD Public School; KBDAV School; Ryan International School; AKSIPS-41; St Joseph’s School; Shivalik Public School; St Teresa Convent; Kendriya Vidyalaya OCF; Chandigarh Baptist School; DAV Public School, Sector 8, Chandigarh ; Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School; Shishu Niketan, Sector 43; Jainendra Public School, Panchkula; Gem Public School, Mohali; Sacred Heart School; SD Public School; Oakridge International School; Shemrock School, Mohali; St Soldier, Mohali; Sky School, Panchkula; and Mountview Public School, Baltana — were felicitated.
