Driver held for stealing his impounded auto

CHANDIGARH:An auto driver has been arrested for stealing his auto that was impounded by the UT traffic police at a naka on the road separating Sector 20 and 33.

An auto driver has been arrested for stealing his auto that was impounded by the UT traffic police at a naka on the road separating Sector 20 and 33.

According to the police, a traffic naka was laid on April 20. During checking, the police impounded an auto-rickshaw, bearing a Punjab number. 

The police said the auto was parked near the naka. However, the accused driver, Jagbir Singh, a resident of Phase I, Mohali, managed to drive away the auto after stealing it from the naka. The traffic staff later came to know about the incident and informed the Sector 34 police station following which a case of theft was registered against the accused. Later, the accused was arrested in the case.
