Drive against traffic violations

ZIRAKPUR:The traffic wing of the Zirakpur police has issued 72 challans to violators and impounded five motorbikes and an auto-rickshaw.

The traffic wing of the Zirakpur police has issued 72 challans to violators and impounded five motorbikes and an auto-rickshaw. 

Some motorists who had parked their vehicles on the sides of the highway were however let off with a warning.

The police said as many as 30 of the total 72 challans were issued for driving without helmet. Other violations included wrong parking, triple riding, jumping red light and drunken driving.

Rajinder Singh, traffic incharge, Zirakpur, said they carried out a drive in different areas of the town. He added that special focus was laid on checking rash or negligent driving, speeding, jumping red light, riding two-wheeler without helmet and driving without seat belt.
