The incident took place around 8.30 pm on Saturday when the victim, Ravi Kumar, a Class VI student went to a nearby kiryana shop on Saturday. Rekha, victim’s mother said when her son was returning from the shop, the pet dog attacked. She alleged that Ravi sustained injuries on his leg, arm and chest. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi. His condition was stated to be stable and was undergoing treatment. OC

Man killed in road mishap 

Ambala: A 31-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a car on the national highway, near Mohra village here on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Avtar Singh, a resident of Shahpur village. As per the information, around 7.30 am the deceased was crossing the highway on foot when car rammed into him. Avtar was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment, where doctors declared him dead. He is survived by two children, and wife. TnS

Dowry death case: 3 booked 

Ambala: The police have booked three people in a dowry death case. Sonal (28), had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Nahan House area in Ambala city on May 20. The suspects have been identified as deceased’s husband Arun, mother-in-law Raj Rani and brother-in-law Rahul. In his complaint to the police, deceased’s brother said Sonal was married to Arun in February 2018. He alleged that Arun and his family used to harass his sister for dowry. “On Monday, we got a call that Sonal has committed suicide,” he alleged. A case has been registered under Sections 304 B and 34 of the IPC.  TNS

Two booked for illegal mining 

Ambala: The Naraingarh police have booked two men in connection with illegal mining of gravel at Mauja Sagrani village. The suspects have been identified as Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Naraingarh and Jaggu Ram, a resident of Dera . A case has been registered on the complaint of Mining Officer Bhupinder Singh. TNS

Paddlers Pelf, pritish triumph 

Mohali: Pelf drubbed Kirti in the girls’ U-14 final before packing off Mansi to win the U-17 title on the concluding day of the 6th Sardar Dalip Singh Memorial Table Tennis Tournament at St Solider International Convent School here on Tuesday. Vishal, Pritish Sood and Neelash claimed the top-three positions respectively in the boy’s U-12 category, while Titiksha topped the podium in the girls’ U-12 competition. She beat Prableen in the final. Pritish Sood, meanwhile, beat Sahil Rawat to claim the boys’ U-14 title. In the boys’ U-17 category, Ryan Gandhi beat Sagar to win the title. Junior golf camp from May 26 

Mohali:  The Mohali Golf Range will organise the Junior Golf Camp from May 26-July 6. The camp will be open to both boys and girls above three years of age, the organisers said here on Tuesday. Both members and non members can participate in the camp, they added. The interested golfers need to register for the camp before May 24. TNS

Cricket tourney from May 28

Panchkula:  Twelve teams, including Nepal and the UAE, will compete in the 33rd All-India U-16 Cricket Championship for Shaheed Bhagat Singh Trophy, beginning May 28. The matches will be played at various grounds across Panchkula and Dera Bassi, the organisers said during the trophy unveiling ceremony here on Tuesday. Apart from Nepal and the UAE, rural teams from Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Chennai, Andaman & Nicobar, Telangana, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Bihar and Haryana will participate in the championship, they added.
