Chandigarh, October 12

The office of the UT Deputy Commissioner has sent demolition notices to owners of over 200 commercial and residential properties in Bahlana and Faintha villages. The notices have been issued those whose structures fall within 100 metres of the IAF Station. The Administration has given them seven days to remove illegal structures.

The notices have created panic among the villagers, who said no one objected to the construction of the houses before. The villagers said they were ready to shift from the area if the authorities provided them an alternative place and compensation. — TNS
