Under the directive of the Hub of Learning Programme initiated by the CBSE, Delhi Public School (DPS), Chandigarh, hosted Vaividhya Mein Akya, an inter-school street play competition. Five neighbouring schools participated in the competition, which was adjudged by eminent theatre personalities. Students presented a kaleidoscopic view of national unity and integrity. The first prize was bagged by the DPS, Chandigarh, second prize was given to Government Model Secondary School, MCH, Mani Majra, and the third prize was won by the Government High School, Sector 46, Chandigarh. Tiny tots were made aware about the importance of eating healthy food and encouraged to say no to junk food in a healthy tiffin competition organised at the primary 1 block of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh. Ankur School
Students of Ankur School interacted with Prof Raj Kumar, Vice- Chancellor (VC), Panjab University. The VC laid stress on hardwork, discipline and tolerance as the key parameters of success. He cited examples of Dr APJ Kalam, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Dr Homi Bhaba and motivated students to aim high in life and be a role model for others. The session concluded on a positive note. TNS
Jainendra Public School
Sports students of Jainendra Public School, Sector 1, Panchkula, showed extraordinary performance by bagging gold, silver and bronze medals in taekwondo championship held at the HMT Bhawan. Vaibhav of Class VI and Vaibhavi of Class IV won gold while Ajay, Sumit and Dhruv bagged gold as well as silver in different categories of the championship. Ishita, Hiten, Archit and Rajvir got bronze medals in the tournament. In an inter-school taekwondo championship at Brilliance World School Harish, Aditi and Sahejpreet won gold where as Vaibhavi and Shreshth got silver medals. Krishan, Ravinder, Ishita, Hiten, Keshav, Vaibhav and Archit got bronze in the same competition. TNS
St Xavier’s High School
To strengthen and inculcate moral values, students of Classes IV, V and VI were shown moral videos at St Xavier’s High School, Panchkula. Students were shown videos on importance of prayer and importance of being respectful and obedient through interesting moral stories. An interactive session was held by teachers on the occasion. Mount Carmel School
A trip to Chapparchiri was organised by the science and heritage club of Mount Carmel School, Mohali, to give a firsthand experience of nature and heritage to students of Classes IX and X. Students saw various statues and understood their history. They also enjoyed observing fish and snakes in a pond. They collected various types of leaves and flowers to study them in detail. Government High School
A science exhibition sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Chandigarh, was organised at the Government High School (a smart school), Sector 50-B, Chandigarh. Models prepared by students of Class VI to IX were displayed on the occasion. A workshop of pottery art work was also organised for students of Class X. Students participated in this workshop enthusiastically and prepared pots with the help of clay. Pots prepared by students were displayed at the exhibition. Vocational skill competition
The 28th state-level vocational skill competition was inaugurated by Director School Education (DSE), UT, Rubinderjit Singh Brar, at the GMSSS-8B, Chandigarh, here today. The DSE motivated students and laid emphasis on how vocational education helped youth acquire practical experience and learn modern methods of diverse vocations. Eight competitions were held in different streams on the occasion. Fashion designing students prepared kantha embroidered cushion covers whereas students of beauty and wellness discipline showcased their south Indian make-up skill. In textile designing, free hand painting on runners was exhibited by students. The audience was left awe-struck by yogasans formation by school students.
