Debasis Sahoo rallied from a set down to beat Aditya Goyat in the boys’ U-14 quarterfinals at the ongoing National Ranking Tennis (TS-7) Championship here today.
Sahoo lost the first set 1-6, but clawed his way back into the match with a stunning 7-5 win in the second set. In the decider, Sahoo held his nerve to overcome Goyat 7-6(3) and book a place in the semifinals.
Aryan Arora registered a 6-2 6-1 win over Lakshya Gupta, while Madhav Sharma overpowered Navya Verma 6-2 6-0. Rakshit Dhankar overcame Shubham Singh 6-4 5-7 6-3 to move into the semifinals.
In the boys’ U-16 quarterfinals, Samarbir Singh stunned top seed Mankirat Singh 6-1 7-6(3), while Shubh Negi dumped Aditya Goyat 6-1 6-1. Parth Goyal humbled Rahul Kumar 7-6(8) 7-5.
Jyotsana Yadav, meanwhile, drubbed Sargam 6-1 6-3 to ensure a place in the girls’ U-14 semifinals.
Khushi Dewan came from behind to surprise Agrima Gandhi 6-7(5) 6-4 6-2, while Matreyi Phogat dismissed Anusha Verma 6-0 6-1. Harleen Kaur got the better of Milli Pandit 7-5 6-0 in another quarterfinal match.
Jeshna blanked Naureen, while Meher Kaur defeated Vanshika Mehta 6-0 6-0.
In the boys’ U-16 doubles semifinals, Mankirat Singh and Dhairya Chadha registered a 6-0 6-1 win over Jashan Gupta and Lakshya Gupta, whereas Rishi Dahiya and Rahul Kumar drubbed Aryan Arora and Navya Verma 6-1 6-1. The semifinals will be held on Thursday.
