Mohali, November 29

The police are clueless in the carjacking that took place on the road separating Sector 79 and 80 here yesterday.

Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said CCTV cameras installed on certain intersections and other sites were being scrutinised to get some lead in the case.

Three youths had taken away local resident Mohit Verma’s Swift Dzire car at gunpoint around 9.30 pm yesterday. The victim was sitting in his car after fetching eggs from a street vendor when the carjackers targeted him.

A day before, a similar incident had taken place on the Mullanpur-Baddi road falling in this district.

The police said they had details of physical description of the miscreants. “The way they committed the crime showed that they were not part of some gang. It seemed that they found the victim a soft target and robbed him,” said the police.

“Investigations are on in this regard,” said the SSP.
