A day after being hit by a BMW car, a cab driver succumbed to his injuries. Narinder Singh, a Kharar resident, was among the four who received serious injuries after a Panchkula resident rammed his car into them around 3 pm at the international airport here.

Along with Narinder, Amrit Pal Singh, a resident of Sector 70, Balwinder Singh, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, and Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Sector 45, had received injuries. They were taken to a private hospital, where Narinder Singh died during treatment this morning.

The BMW driver was identified as Rajiv Garg, who was also injured in the accident. Rajiv’s wife was also present in the BMW. However, she escaped unhurt. The police said Garg had arrived at the airport to pick up his wife. After picking up his wife, he started his car to leave the airport premises. He hit an Innova while reversing. Following this, he got nervous and pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. In the meantime, he hit the cab drivers, who were waiting for passengers.

High drama was witnessed outside the hospital when cab drivers gathered there and raised slogans against the hospital, alleging negligence on its part.

The police have registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 338, 304-A and 427 of the IPC.
