Chandigarh: KB DAV School, Sector 7, beat Aurboindo School, Sector 27, 24-15 in the ongoing Brother Kyle Basketball Tournament held here on Thursday. For DAV, Abhinav was the top scorer with six points. In the second match, St John’s High School, Sector 26, defeated AKSIPS, Sector 41, 30-15. Sohbat scored eight points for the winners. — TNS

Sports meet on Nov 17

Chandigarh: Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, will organise the 65th Annual Sports Festival from November 17. During the event, the college will hold track and field events, besides organising cricket, volleyball and football matches. A race for blind students will also be conducted. — TNS

Chess meet from Nov 18

Mohali: Learning Paths School, Mohali, will host the two-day Annual Regional Open Chess Tournament from November 18. The tournament will be conducted by the Chandigarh Chess Academy and will be played under the Swiss League system. The competition will be held in the age group of 10 to 17 years in both boys’ and girls’ categories. — TNS

Preeti wins 4 gold medals

Chandigarh: Preeti Gami clinched four gold medals to emerge as the best sportsperson during a sports meet at the Rajeev Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development. Gami dominated the filed in 100 and 200m dash, while Sumeet topped the men’s 100m race. During the meet, students participated in various disciplines, including kho-kho, volleyball, badminton and tug of war.  Upasna beat Priyanka 21-14 21-19 to win the badminton title, while Ravi Kumar overcame Suraj 21-19 21-20 to lift the men’s trophy. — TNS
