DAV shooters strike gold, silver for SGGS

Chandigarh, October 8 

Shooters from DAV College, Sector 10, claimed both men’s and women’s team titles to emerge overall winners at the Panjab University Inter-College Shooting Championship, which concluded in Badal today. 

DAV marksmen scored a total of 139 points to top the podium, while Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) College, Sector 26, accumulated 33 points to finish a distant second. GGD SD College, Sector 32, bagged the third position with 23 points. 

In the women’s competition, DAV College scored a total of 90 points to dominate the table. DG College, Badal, gained 50 points to occupy the second spot, while MCM DAV College, Sector 36, where 15 points behind at third position. 

Sayna triumphs

In the women’ air rifle individual contest, Sayna Singli topped the podium with a total of 595 points. She was followed by Samiksha Dhingra (594) and Ayushi (594) in second and third places respectively. 

Malika Goel scored 571 points to win the women’s air pistol gold. Navdeep Kaur (566) bagged the silver, while Purnima Gaur (564) had to be content with the bronze medal. 

In the women’s 25m sports pistol category, Sweta Devi topped the list with 288 points. Gauri Sheoran (287) finished second, while Arunima Gaur (286) occupied the third spot.

Pardeep Kaur Sidhu (260), Anjali Choudhary (254) and Arunima Gaur (275) claimed the top-three positions in women’s individual free pistol event. 

In the women’s team championships, DAV College scored 855 points to claim the title. Badal College (812) followed in second place, while Panjab University Campus (768) finished third.

Udhayveer smiles

In the men’s individual 25m standard pistol contest, Udhayveer Singh (288) clinched the gold medal, while Vijayveer Sidhu (287) secured the silver. Dilshaan Kelley (285) returned home with the bronze medal. 

Arjun Singh Cheema (585), Udhayveer (579) and Vijayveer (576) claimed the top-three positions respectively in the men’s individual air pistol competition, 

Sunmoon Singh (597) dominated the field in the men’s individual air rifle category. He was followed by Surya Pratpa Singh (594) in second place, while Inderpal Singh (584) sealed the third spot.

Udhayveer won the men’s individual 25m rapid fire pistol gold with 297 points. Adrash Singh (293) got the silver, while Japtyesh Singh (287) claimed third position. 

In the men’s individual free pistol championship, Arjun Singh Cheema (278) struck the gold, while Vijayveer (269) took home the silver medal. Udhayveer (263) got the bronze.
