‘Newspaper bags-making activity was initiated at DAV Public School, Sector 8-C, Chandigarh. Students of Classes III to X participated. They aimed to do away with plastic carry bags to reduce pollution and contribute their bit to saving environment. They were taught to make paper bags and were assigned a weekend task to make five bags for their homes.

Brilliance World, Panchkula 

Brilliance World School organised a plantation drive at the school campus to restore the ecological balance. Students planted saplings under the guidance of the faculties and the school gardener. Principal Niranjana Chatterjee encouraged the students to take a pledge to plant at least one tree this monsoon. 

Aanchal International, Chandigarh

A session on table manners was organised for the students of Aanchal International School. The participants were told about the importance of table manners. Students were taught about basic manners and etiquette skills to be used while serving or having a meal. 

St Joseph’s, Chandigarh

To prepare the students and school staff for any eventuality, a mock drill to face any kind of disaster was conducted at St Joseph’s School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh, from Classes I to XII. 

St Soldier, Dhakoli

A science exhibition was held at St Soldier Paradise School, Dhakoli. Students made still models, working models, charts and posters to present their topics. Visitors appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers. 

Blue Bird, Panchkula

 In order to enhance speaking skills of the students, an inter-class storytelling competition was organised for the KG section. The little ones exhibited remarkable confidence and accurate accent while narrating a story based on ‘Pride Hath a Fall’. Speaking skills of a few students were highly appreciated.

Edustar Adarsh, Mohali

Edustar Adarsh School, Kalewal (Mohali), organised a special class assembly for Class X students on World Nature Conservation Day. Students shared the initiatives taken by the Centre for protecting the natural resources. A few students presented a street play, a poem and shared the important practices that can make the Earth greener and cleaner. Principal Sukhpal Kaur appreciated the efforts of teachers and students. 

MRA Modern Public, Panchkula

MRA Modern Public School, Sector 7, celebrated ‘Van Mahotsava’ on the school premises. Principal Neetu Arora, along with Girl Guide and Eco Club members, planted saplings. Students were told about the importance of aforestation and preservation of nature. Principal Neetu Arora motivated the children to do their best to save the environment. Students participated in the activity with enthusiasm.

Manav Rachna, Mohali

Students of MRIS, Mohali, participated in the trial selection of Punjab teams for under-10 and under-12 category held at Veer Haquiqat Rai Model Secondary School, Patiala. The Patiala District Fencing Association organised the trials for the final selection of Punjab teams for the Mini-National Fencing Championship to be held at Nasik, Maharashtra. Meritorious students — Divaa (Class III), Penank (Class IV) and Kushan (Class V) — have been selected to play I the U- 10 and U-12 categories. 

Green Castle, CHANDIGARH

The tiny tots of Green Castle School, Sector 47/C, Chandigarh, celebrated Monsoon Day, along with their teachers. Students enjoyed sailing paper boat in the pool. Children were imparted knowledge about the rainy season. tns
