DAV-15 spikers triumph

Chandigarh: DAV Model School, Sector 15, came from behind to beat Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 28, 21-25 25-23 25-21 in a boys’ inter-school volleyball championship league match here on Wednesday.

DAV Model School, Sector 15, came from behind to beat Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 28, 21-25 25-23 25-21 in a boys’ inter-school volleyball championship league match here on Wednesday.

GMSSS, Sector 28, also bowed 12-25 14-25 to DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8. 

DAV, Sector 8, however, lost their second match 22-25 21-25 to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26.

In the girls’ category, Government Model High School, Sector 34, beat GMSSS, Dhanas, 25-18 25-23. 

GMSSS, Sector 26, defeated GMSSS, Sector 33, 25-18 25-23 before registering a 25-18 25-22 win over GMSSS, Dhanas.

Asha bowls Dhillon Club to victory 

Chandigarh: Asha Negi claimed a four-for as KBS Dhillon Club registered a six-wicket win over Dev Samaj College, Sector 45, to win the Senior State Cricket Championship on Wednesday. Batting first, Dev Samaj College were all out for 72 runs in 19.4 overs. Dhillon Club, in reply, reached home in 15.2 overs with six wickets to spare.  TNS 

Ayush wins weightlifting gold 

Mohali: Ayush Ranjan of CGC, Landran, won a gold medal in the 55kg category at the ongoing PTU inter-college weightlifting championship here on Wednesday. His college-mates Gaurav Chamyal and Naval Kishore dominated the field in the 61kg and 67kg weight categories, respectively. Gurkirat Singh of CGC, Jhanjeri, topped the podium in the 73kg category. Krishabh of CGC, Landran, took home the gold medal in the 81kg category, while Charanjit Singh of RIET, Phagwara, claimed the top position in the 89kg category. Akshay and Jaspreet Singh of CGC, Landran, bagged a gold medal each in the 96kg and 109kg weight categories, respectively. Jasjeet Singh of CT, Jalandhar, finished first in the 109+ category. In powerlifting, Anshul Soni and Karan Singh, both from CGC, Landran, claimed the top positions in the 59kg and 66kg categories, respectively. TNS
