The Punjab state cyber crime cell has reportedly rounded up an accused in the card cloning fraud.
Sources said the accused, Sumit Kumar, had been rounded up in Lucknow.
“A police party is on its way from Lucknow to Mohali after rounding up Sumit Kumar, one of the key accused in the ATM/credit and debit card fraud in which nearly 20 persons have lost around Rs 20 to Rs 25 lakh in the Mohali area,” said sources.
Cyber sleuths have already nabbed Sourabh, who was working at a bar-cum-restaurant in Phase 5, in this connection.
According to an official of the cyber cell, it was an organised gang of around 10 miscreants, which was active in various parts of the country and committed frauds of several lakhs through card cloning.
“Most of the accused have been identified. Police teams have also been sent to some other parts of the country, including Mumbai, to look for the other accused,” said the sources.
Meanwhile, Sourabh was produced before a local court on Tuesday, which has extended his police remand by five days.
