Mohali, November 19

As the local police have failed to keep a check on unauthorised persons providing immigration consultancy in the district, Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra has sent a communiqué to the Mohali SSP to check the problem in an effective manner.

The communiqué in question has been shot following recent directions from Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to all deputy commissioners across the state in this regard.

Sapra said hundreds of people have been falling prey to these cheaters and losing not only their hard-earned money but also putting their or kin’s lives to risk.

The DC admitted that more than 500 unauthorised immigration consultancy service offices were being run in the district only. “Only 117 agencies are authorised to provide the service in the district. We have uploaded the names of these offices on the website of the Mohali administration. People interested in going abroad should contact only the authorised offices to save themselves from being duped,” said Sapra.

“I recently wrote to the Mohali SSP to initiate action against the unauthorised immigration consultants. The menace would be curbed soon,” said the DC.
