The crisis in the city BJP is yet to be over as Satish Kainth has refused to withdraw his candidature for the post of Mayor.

Sources said many senior leaders of the party, including city BJP president Sanjay Tandon and MP Kirron Kher, today tried to convince him to withdraw the nomination but he refused to budge from his stand.

Tandon said it was an internal issue of the party and would be resolved before the mayoral elections scheduled to be held on January 18.

BJP councillors Kainth and Farmila revolted against the decision of the party high command to field Rajesh Kalia for the post of Mayor.

Kainth filed his nomination for post as an Independent candidate.

Another contender for the Mayor’s post Farmila and Independent candidate Dalip Sharma supported him.

When contacted, Kainth said there was no question of backing out as the party ignored the majority view of councilors. He said party leaders were indulging in caste politics.

Sources said senior BJP leaders made it clear that the decision of fielding Kalia would not be reconsidered.
