Cricket academy told to raze structures in 6 weeks

CHANDIGARH: Land Acquisition Officer of the Chandigarh Administration Arjun Sharma has issued a notice to the owners of the Mahajan School of Cricket being run from land near IT Park to demolish the structures and convert the ground, being used for cricket matches, for agriculture purposes.

Land Acquisition Officer of the Chandigarh Administration Arjun Sharma has issued a notice to the owners of the Mahajan School of Cricket being run from land near IT Park to demolish the structures and convert the ground, being used for cricket matches, for agriculture purposes.

The officer has issued the notice under the Periphery Control Act and has given six-week time to the owners to demolish the structures.

The notice was issued a day after Chandigarh Tribune highlighted how a cricket academy had come up on a farmhouse.

The academy was being run under the name of the Mahajan School of Cricket.

A board of the UT Cricket Association was also installed near the banner of the Mahajan School of Cricket.

According to the Periphery Control Act, which is in force in villages around the city, no construction and other activities are allowed on agriculture land.

The officer said if the owners failed to demolish the structures within the stipulated time, the authorities would demolish these.
