Chandigarh, May 17

The local court today stayed the conviction of DSP Raka Ghira in an Arms Act case.

Punjab Police DSP Raka Ghira was sentenced to one rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 in an Arm Act case on February 18. However, she was granted bail on a bail bond of Rs 10,000.

Later on March 9, the court had suspended the one-year jail term of DSP Ghira in the Arms Act during a case trial and had sought reply from prosecution acting on her plea which challenged the decision of a lower court.

Defence counsel SPS Bhullar said the conviction had been stayed till the final decision of the appeal.

Bhullar further said the conviction had been suspended on the grounds that the service of the DSP was being affected.
