Dr Amar Singh, newly elected MP from Fatehgarh Sahib, today said the existing school education system needed to be changed and job-oriented courses should be introduced.

He said this while presiding over his maiden function organised by the District Education Department to honour the Class X and XIIstudents, who figured on the state merit list, and the school heads whose result was 100 per cent.

“Government schools in the Fatehgarh Sahib constituency will be converted into smart schools. An interaction between the industry and school students will be initiated on experimental basis so that students may aspire for jobs in the industrial sector,” he said.

“It’s a matter of great pride that seven students from government schools of the district figured on the state merit list.”

He said the Chief Minister had a great concern for education and health and with his consistent efforts, the students of government schools performed better than the private ones.

MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra said now students from government schools had started giving suggestions on requirements in their schools, which was a good sign. He assured that all their requirements would be fulfilled. Earlier, DC Dr Parshant Goyal said with the efforts of the state government, pre-nursery classes had started and in most of the schools, education was imparted in English medium. Paramjit Kaur Sidhu, District Education Officer (Secondary), said 42 schools of the district got 100 per cent results.
