Prof Dinesh Kumar Abrol from the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development, New Delhi on Tuesday said the country faces a permanent and persistent shortage of water. 

“The country gets about 4,000 billion cubic metres of water every year, but uses only about 48 per cent of it”, said Dr Abrol, while addressing the students of department of economics, during a special lecture organised by the department on “India’s water crisis: Sources, challenges and way out”. — TNS
