Cops nail threewith snatched, stolen valuables

CHANDIGARH: The UT police have arrested three youths and claimed to have solved two cases each of snatching and vehicle lifting besides a case of theft.

The UT police have arrested three youths and claimed to have solved two cases each of snatching and vehicle lifting besides a case of theft.

A team led by Inspector Amanjot Singh, SHO, Sector 39 police station, nabbed the suspects, identified as Harsh (21), alias Billa, a resident of Sector 56, Karan Kumar (21) and Sonu (19), alias Kalia, both residents of Bad Majra village colony in Mohali. A snatching incident was reported in Sector 41 on July 18. The victim, Manmohan Singh of Sector 65, Mohali, had reported that he had gone to Krishna Market in Sector 41 when a person snatched his mobile phone.

Cops swung into action and nabbed the suspect, identified as Harsh. Further investigations revealed that Harsh and his two associates were involved in other cases as well, following which the remaining two suspects were arrested. 

The police said in one of the cases, the complainant, Shri Ishwar Dut (27), a native of Himachal Pradesh, had reported that he came to the city to meet his relative on May 12. The complainant hired an auto from Sector 17 to the PGI. However, the auto driver drove towards Sector 37 and snatched a bag containing Rs 1,500 and a mobile phone from him.

The police found that the suspects were also involved in another snatching incident reported in October 2017. The miscreants had snatched a purse from the victim, Usha Rani of Sector 40, while she was going to purchase vegetables in Sector 41.

Cops said the suspects had also stolen a motorcycle from Sector 37 on July 15. They added that three mobile phones, a scooter and a motorcycle had been recovered from them.

The police said Harsh was a tractor mechanic while Karan was an auto driver and Sonu a labourer. 

Harash is a habitual criminal and has been arrested in more than dozen cases.

Recoveries

  • The suspects have been identified as Harsh (21), alias Billa, a resident of Sector 56, Karan Kumar (21) and Sonu (19), alias Kalia, both residents of Bad Majra village colony in Mohali.
  • Three mobile phones, a scooter and a motorcycle have been recovered from them.
