Contractual teachers boycott classes

PATIALA: Adding to woes of Punjabi University, contractual teachers working in its affiliated colleges have boycotted classes from today as the university authorities failed to release their salary.

Adding to woes of Punjabi University, contractual teachers working in its affiliated colleges have boycotted classes from today as the university authorities failed to release their salary.

These teachers have been working on a contract basis for the past many years and have also been seeking their regularisation since long. However, their problems got further aggravated as their salary was not released by the university authorities for the past four months.

There are about 100 such teachers in these affiliated colleges under the banner of Punjabi University Contractual Teachers Association (PUCTA) and they have boycotted the classes now after all their attempts to get their salary released failed.
