Chandigarh, June 14

People will have an opportunity to own a house at Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technical Park (IT Park) as the consultant hired by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has submitted a plan for the construction of 1,130 flats.

The plan will be placed before officials of the board and the final decision will be taken in consultation with the UT Architect Department. Sources said the housing project will come at two sites earmarked for this. Earlier, a joint project of the CHB and Parsvnath Developer on the site had failed to take off.

The CHB is planning to developed the area with five star hotels, shopping malls, community centres, and hospitals.

The housing scheme at the IT Park is in sync with the Master Plan. The site for the project was taken back from Parsvnath Developers after 10 years as it failed to initiate a project on it. In 2007, the firm had announced to invest Rs 2,600 crore for the project, Pride Asia. Over 1,300 luxury flats were to be constructed. But the project never took off.
