Congress leader Manish Tewari''s mother Dr Amrit Kaur dead

CHANDIGARH: Dr Amrit Kaur Tewari, mother of senior Congress leader and former Union minister Manish Tewari, passed away after a brief illness here late last night. She was 80.

Chandigarh, January 14

Dr Amrit Kaur Tewari, mother of senior Congress leader and former Union minister Manish Tewari, passed away after a brief illness here late last night. She was 80.

Dr Tewari was recently operated upon at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).

The cremation will take place in Chandigrah on Monday.

Dr Tewari is survived by his son Manish Tewari and daughter Sheena.

She was married to Prof Vishwanath Tewari, a Rajya Sabha MP who was assassinated by militants in 1984.

Dr Tewari was a former Dean of the PGI and had also served as Chairperson of the Indian Dental Council. She also served as Councillor in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.
