Computer teachers end protest

PANCHKULA:After being assured of being accommodated in the Education Department before the model code of conduct for the forthcoming assembly elections comes into force, members of the Computer Teachers Welfare Association today ended their protest.

After being assured of being accommodated in the Education Department before the model code of conduct for the forthcoming assembly elections comes into force, members of the Computer Teachers Welfare Association today ended their protest.

Balram Dhiman, association president, said Rajesh Khullar, principal secretary to Chief Minister, had accepted their demand. He said they were grateful to the Chief Minister for listening to their grievances. 

Hundreds of computer teachers had been on indefinite protest for the past 15 days and had been invited for talks in the CMO office today. A five-member delegation, including Balram Dhiman, Kapil Sharma, Sunil Bishnoi, Vinita Bhatnagar, Razia Sultan met the Khullar. Earlier, the protestors had gheraoed the Deputy Commissioner’s office at the mini secretariat in Sector 1.

Balram said there were 3,216 sanctioned posts of computer teachers in the Education Department and all teachers were qualified for the posts. — TNS
