Commerce cut-off higher than science

The UT Education Department released the cut-off list for students seeking admission in Class XI in 40 government schools in the city on its official website today.

In the first round of counselling, 2,975 students were allotted science stream (medical & non-medical), 1,561 were selected for commerce stream and 6,339 for humanities stream.

Like last year, the cut-off for commerce stream was higher than science stream as the last student to be admitted in this stream has 61 per cent marks, which is much higher than science (37 per cent) and humanities (24 per cent). 

There has been an increase in school-wise cut-off marks as compared with the previous session (2018-19). For science, GMSSS, Mani Majra Complex, has once again kept the cut-off higher at 94.4 per cent, followed by GMSSS-16 (90 per cent) and GMSSS-35 (86.7 per cent). Similarly, for commerce, GMSSS-16 has the highest cut-off at 89 per cent, followed by GMSSS, Mani Majra Complex, (88.36 per cent) and GMSSS-35 (84.8 per cent).

The cut-off marks indicate the percentage of the last student who has been allotted a seat in General category in a particular school and stream.

Unlike last year, GMSSS-8 did not figure in top five schools for any of the three streams. The schools that figured in top five for commerce and humanities are GMSSS-32 and GMSSS-37.

Periphery schools cut-off lower than sector schools

While the sector-based government schools did not admit students below 60 per cent marks, last students to be admitted in the peripheral schools have scored as low as 30 per cent marks.

At least six peripheral schools having only humanities stream have set cut-off below 40 per cent marks. These include GSSS, Raipur Khurd, (37.2 per cent), GSSS, Kaimbwala, (24 per cent), GSSS, Behlana, (39.6 per cent), GSSS, Maloya (30.8 per cent), GSSS, Khuda Lohara, (30.2 per cent), and GSSS, Khuda Alisher, (34.6 per cent). 

Students to deposit fee by June 29

Students, who have been allotted schools, should report to their respective school for payment of fee on June 28 and June 29 between 9 am and 1 pm, along with the duly signed admission form, registration form and other relevant documents mentioned in the prospectus.

The admission form can be downloaded from chdeducation.gov.in Students, who want to change their school/stream after taking admission should edit and re-submit the school or/and stream preferences in their registration form from July 15 to July 17. Students, who have not been allotted schools can edit and re-submit the school or/and stream preferences in their registration form from July 15 to July 17 to participate in the second counselling.
