Dera Bassi: A resident of Ambala had a miraculous escape when a rashly driven car hit his car parked on the roadside on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway here on Thursday evening. The victim had gone to Chandigarh for some personal work and was returning home. He stopped his Ciaz car to attend nature’s call. As soon as he came out of his car, another car coming from the Chandigarh side rammed into it. The victim escaped with a minor injury on his foot. The driver of the other car escaped from the spot. On the victim’s complaint, the police have started an investigation. OC
Two arrested with intoxicant powder
Kharar: The Kharar Sadar police have arrested two suspects identified as Dhiraj Kaushal, a resident of Kharar, and Tejvir Singh, a resident of Mundi Kharar, following the recovery of 50 gm of intoxicant powder from their possession. As per information received from the police a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the duo. They were produced in the local court from where they were sent to one-day police remand. The police got a tip-off about two suspects selling intoxicant powder. After getting information, the police arrested both the suspects. OC
Blood Donation Camp held
Kharar: A blood donation camp was organised at Ambika Group of Colleges in association with VISHVAS Foundation and the PGIMER, Chandigarh, here today. Several, including nursing students, employees and public volunteers, donated blood. Around 45 units of blood was collected at the camp. In the evening a rally was organised to create awareness about AIDS amongst the public. OC
Man arrested with poppy husk
Ambala: The police have arrested Dharamveer of Naraingarh near here and claimed to have recovered 4.6-kg poppy husk from him, officials said here on Thursday. According to the police, the suspect was arrested on a tip-off and his search yielded the contraband. He was remanded to four-day police custody by a court, the officials said. TNS
Naraingarh man held for theft
Ambala: The police have arrested Gobind Singh of Naraingarh near here for stealing a truck-trailer, officials said here on Thursday. According to the police, Ranjit Singh of Naraingarh had reported to the police that his truck-trailer was stolen on the intervening night of January 17 and 18. Two other persons involved in the theft had already been arrested, said the officials, adding that Gobind was remanded to one-day police custody. TNS
Two POs land in police net
Ambala: The police have arrested two proclaimed offenders in separate cases, officials said here on Thursday. According to the police, Rocky of Naraingarh near here and Sahil of Mahesh Nagar near here were wanted in separate criminal cases registered against them at the Naraingarh and Mahesh Nagar police stations, respectively. However, they were evading arrest following which the courts had declared them proclaimed offenders. Both fugitives will be produced before the courts on Friday, the officials said. TNS
