Close shave for family as tractor hits car

The family of Harpreet Singh, a resident of NRI Colony here, had a narrow escape today when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a tractor-trailer, which overturned and fell on the car.

The incident took place near Bhuru Chowk, Kharar. Harpreet Singh was driving the car. His wife Kiranjeet Kaur and their two daughters were also travelling in the car and they were on their way to a religious place.

The car was hit by a tractor-trailer, which was coming from the Landran side. After hitting the car, the driver of the tractor-trailer lost control over the vehicle and it overturned and fell on the car. 

Shopkeepers and passersby gathered at the spot  and  the doors and front windshield of the car were broken to rescue the car occupants.

Harpreet’s wife and their daughters suffered injuries in the mishap. Harpreet Singh said the tractor-trailer was without a number plate and the driver was speeding. 

The tractor driver escaped, but the police have impounded the tractor. According to the SHO, Kharar City, Bhagwant Singh, an FIR has been registered against the tractor driver.
