Class XII topper dies in road mishap

PATIALA: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old meritorious student of Nabha, who brought laurels to the Patiala district by bagging second position in the recently declared results of the Class XII PSEB exam, lost her life in a road accident on Saturday afternoon.

In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old meritorious student of Nabha, who brought laurels to the Patiala district by bagging second position in the recently declared results of the Class XII PSEB exam, lost her life in a road accident on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased, Manveer Kaur, was on her way to Nabha from her Rohta village for attending tuitions. Manveer died on the spot after coming under wheels of the tractor-trailer. The accident happened after she lost balance of the two-wheeler, she was driving on the under construction Nabha-Suaja link road.

The family members of the deceased rushed to the spot, but by the time they reached there she was already dead. A farmer’s daughter, Manveer Kaur, was a student of Malwa Public Senior Secondary School, Nabha. She had scored 97.11 per cent marks in the PSEB Class XII examination.

Her family members said she was preparing for the UPSC examination and aspired to be an IAS officer. Manveer is survived by her father, mother and younger brother. Her school teachers said Manveer was a hardworking and intelligent student.

Interestingly, the police have not registered case against anyone. The Station House Officer (SHO), Gurpratap Singh, said, “We have not registered any case as family members of the deceased did not report the matter to us. I got information on my mobile phone.”

Kulwinder Singh, uncle of the deceased, said, “Manveer was going to attend tuitions in Nabha when the accident took place.”
