Class XI student stabbed by senior at P’kula school

In a shocking incident, a student of Class XII stabbed a Class XI student on the head in the washroom area of a government school at Sector 19 here on Wednesday.

The school staff rushed the injured student to the Sector 19 dispensary from where he was referred to the General Hospital in Sector 6 where he received stitches in the head. The boy was later discharged.

The principal, Mohinder Singh, immediately informed the police, who reached the school and apprehended the Class XII student. The principal also informed the parents of the two students. 

Mohinder Singh said he had seen a group of students outside the school premises a few days ago and informed the police. But the boys escaped by the time cops arrived.

In his statement to the police, the injured boy, said when he went to the washroom, the suspect, along with two other boys, also from their school, entered the area and started beating him. Later, the suspect hit him on his head with a knife. He told the police that the suspect had passed comments on his sister, who had slapped the suspect besides informing him (the victim). The injured boy said when he took up the matter with the suspect, he threatened him against approaching the principal.

Sushil Kumar, incharge, Sector 19 police chowki, said they had started investigations after apprehending the suspect. He said the boy sought pardon from the victim’s family and the two families later reached a compromise. He said it was a case of personal enmity.
