The Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) recorded the air quality index at 182 in the evening today, the highest of the season.

Crop burning in the neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab is one of the major reasons for the worsening of the AQI.

According to the classification of the Pollution Control Committee, AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
