Chandigarh paddlers lost to Madhya Pradesh in the 70+ category final to settle for a silver medal in the 26th Masters National Table Tennis Championships in Indore on Wednesday.
Santosh Kaushik was the star performer for Madhya Pradesh as he won both his singles matches to make up for the loss suffered by teammate Indresh Purohit.
The duo then combined well against the Chandigarh pair of Pantanjali Kumar and Balbir Singh Virdi to put Madhya Pradesh on path to victory. Kaushik beat Pantanji Kumar 11-6 11-1 11-6, while he registered a 9-11 11-9 13-11 11-8 win over Balbir Singh Virdi.
Purohit went down to Balbir Singh 10-12 10-12 11-9 6-11. — TNS
