Chandigarh, October 22

Aadil Bedi is all set to make his professional debut when he tees off in the Panasonic Open at the Delhi Golf Club on October 25.

The 17-year-old city golfer will be seen rubbing shoulders with the cream of Asian golf, including the likes of Jeev Milkha Singh, Shiv Kapoor, Jyoti Randhawa and Arjun Atwal.

“Since the next Asian Games and the Olympics are already professional events, I have decided to turn professional so that I can qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Games and 2022 edition of the Asian Games and win a medal for my country,” said Bedi, who represented India at the Asian Games in Jakarta earlier this year.

“PGTI and the Asian Tour have been kind enough to allow me to play couple of events before Q-school, which is my next goal to secure a full card for the PGTI and Asian Tour,” he added.

In his amateur career, Bedi also represented the country at the Eisenhower Cup, SSG-BLR Singapore International Amateur Championship, World Star of Junior Golf in the United States, Malaysian Amateur Championship, British Amateur Championship and Australian Masters of Amateur.

“I am truly grateful for all the support that the Virat Kohli Foundation has given me until now and I am looking forward to visiting the USA for a month-long advance psychology and golf training course in April after my Class XII exams,” he added.
