Chandigarh, December 8

Around 2,700 applications for admission to entry-level classes have been received at three convent schools in the city against 440 seats. The draw of lots for all three schools will be held on January 25. Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, and Carmel Convent, Sector 9, have received close to 1,000 applications each.

While St John’s High School in Sector 26 was to receive forms till Friday, they have given parents time till Wednesday to make changes and clear doubts regarding the form. The school says they have received around 700 forms. All three schools say that the number is similar to the previous years.

Sacred Heart has 160 LKG seats, which means for each seat, there are at least six applicants. Carmel Convent has 120 seats. The ratio of forms received by the school against the seats is eight to one. St John’s has 160 seats. Therefore, at least four applicants will be vying for every single seat there.
