Chandigarh, January 18

The boys U-21 kabaddi final at the Khelo India Youth Games in Pune went down to the wire and had to be decided through an extra time of three minutes as Chandigarh prevailed over Tamil Nadu 41-40 through a golden raid.

Both teams were level at 36-36 at the end of a dramatic second half. Tamil Nadu had themselves to blame for the loss after they gifted their opponents a technical point in the dying stages of extra time as their substitutes jumped onto the court before the final whistle.

In the other categories, Haryana clinched two gold medals as their girls' and boys' U-17 teams won on the final day of the kabaddi competition. They also earned silver through the girls U-21 team. Uttar Pradesh also ended their campaign with three bronze.

The two kabaddi gold medals gained in significance as they helped Haryana move from third to second place on the overall medals tally.
