City boys hold Haryana to 2-2 draw

Hockey Chandigarh played out a 2-2 draw with Hockey Haryana on the fourth day of the Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2018 (A Division) at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh, today.  

Hockey Haryana went ahead as they struck two goals before halftime through Pankaj (20th) and Ankush (30th), but Hockey Chandigarh made a comeback in the second half, with strikes from Harpreet Singh (47th) and Manjot Singh (54th).

Hockey Punjab, meanwhile, won their second match of the competition as they defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 5-2. 

Punjab displayed some inspiring hockey in the first half and took a 3-0 lead into the break. 

The side extended their tally to five goals after Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy scored a couple of goals in the second half. 

For Punjab, Bharat Thakur scored a hat-trick (35th, 60th, 67th), while Simranjot Singh (11th) and Araijeet Singh (28th) scored a goal each. Adarash Hardua scored a brace (40th, 43rd) for Madhya Pradesh. — TNS
