Streetlights in Sector 43, Chandigarh, remain on till 9 am and beyond on quite a few occasions. It seems that the realisation of the spirit behind the installation of LED lights has not struck yet to government staff. Those entrusted with the related jobs need to be apprised of the benefits of optimum usage of energy saving bulbs.

Non-functional toilet

In Sector 15, apni mandi, along with day market, is held on every Wednesday. The corporation constructed a toilet in one corner of the mandi for the convenience of farmers, vendors and customers visiting the mandi. But the toilet has been lying locked and not made functional so far, resulting  in inconvenience and forfeiting the very purpose for which it was constructed. The area councillor of Sector 15, the Mayor and the MC Commissioner have been apprised of the matter and requested to get the toilet made functional, but to no avail. Hope that the Mayor and the area councillor will look into the matter and get the toilet functional at least on Wednesday when apni mandi/day market is held for the convenience of farmers/vendors and people visiting the mandi.

Putting lives at risk

Barnala Realtech, builder of Riverdale Apartments, at Highland Marg, Patiala Road, Zirakpur, has intentionally installed power backup cut-out switches inside ground floor electric panel (having 440 Volts danger). Residents have to risk their lives in resetting them several times a day by opening electric panels. The builder is least concerned about the safety of flat owners and is putting the life of residents in danger. He is not listening to the genuine problem of the residents.

Sunil, Zirakpur
