Chandigarh, December 9

The Chandigarh Housing Board is planning to launch a new housing scheme for residents next year. Sources said more than 500 flats  of different  categories will be  constructed under the scheme. The board has appointed a consultant  for seeking the  environment clearance for the project.

The plan committee of the Administration has already approved the housing scheme in Sector 53.  The board has  also  conducted  a geo-technical survey of the area where the scheme will be floated.  Sources said that  the  scheme was likely  to be  floated in January.

This time, the scheme will be launched at the bigger level and will have more houses of different categories in comparison with the scheme launched in the month of April, 2016. Under the scheme, it has been planned to construct 80 flats for economically-weaker sections, 120 one-room flats, 100 two-room flats and approximately 200 three-room flats. Sources said price of the flats was yet to determined. The CHB had launched a scheme in Sector 51 in April 2016, under which 200 two bedroom flats are to be constructed. The scheme had attracted a lukewarm response.

Sell  your property back to CHB

From January next year, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) will start buying property from residents at 10 per cent below  the reserve price. CHB Chairman Maninder Singh Bains approved the proposal to  earn more revenue for the board. Sources said  after buying the  property,  the board would make payment to the sellers within seven working days. Then the board will put the property on auction. The board has so far constructed more than 65,000 residential and commercial properties in the city.
