Delhi Police on Tuesday night detained Baljeet Singh Khalsa, a 54-year-old resident of Chandigarh, from Gurdwara Sis Ganj here for allegedly possessing objectionable posters.

He was taken to the Chandni Chowk police station.

Khalsa said while he was sleeping at the gurdwara at night, 20-30 policemen, some in uniform and others in civvies, woke him up and told him to accompany them.

He said they told him that he had been brought to the police station for questioning about some objectionable posters belonging to him which they had gathered from the gurdwara.

When confronted, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Delhi, Jatin Narwal, said, “We have detained Khalsa and a joint interrogation is being carried out by Intelligence Bureau and Delhi Police. Details can’t be shared.”

Chandni Chowk SHO Om Prakash said they had received information from sevadars in the gurdwara that objectionable posters had been found in possession of Khalsa, so he was detained and questioning was on.
