Chahal’s bail plea rejected in money laundering case

MOHALI: A special CBI court today rejected the bail application moved by Jagjit Singh Chahal, one of the main accused in the multi-crore Bhola drugs scandal, in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

A special CBI court today rejected the bail application moved by Jagjit Singh Chahal, one of the main accused in the multi-crore Bhola drugs scandal, in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The court also issued warrants against other accused for not appearing in the court.

The ED produced challans against 12 accused, including two former ministers and their various firms. The challan runs into 211 pages. As many as 8,357 documents have been attached with challan.

In the challan, former minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur, former minister Avinash Chander, Phillaur’s son Damanvir Singh Phillaur, Jagjit Singh Chahal, Paramjit Singh Chahal, Jagjit Singh Chahal’s wife Inderjit Kaur, Davinder Kant Sharma, Jaswinder Singh, Sachin Sardana, Sushil Kumar Sardana, Kailash Sardana, Rashmi Sardana and many firms of Chahal have been included. — TNS
