CAT issues notice to Lt Gen

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Bench of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued notice to Lt General Sanjiv Talwar, Engineer-in-Chief, Army Headquarters, Kashmir House, New Delhi, asking him to appear in person after a contempt petition was issued under Section 17 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, read with Contempt of Court Rules for disobeying a previous order.

The Chandigarh Bench of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued notice to Lt General Sanjiv Talwar, Engineer-in-Chief, Army Headquarters, Kashmir House, New Delhi, asking him to appear in person after a contempt petition was issued under Section 17 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, read with Contempt of Court Rules for disobeying a previous order. The matter will now come up for hearing on May 25.

Prahlad Singh (54) of district Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, who is at presentposted as Assistant Engineer in GE (utility), Chandimandir Cantt, filed the contempt petition against Lt Gen Sanjiv Talwar, G Mohan Kumar, Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Defence and Sachin Bharti, Headquarters, Chief Engineer, Western Command, for disobedience of the Tribunal order dated January 12, last year. The applicant had sought for the financial up-gradation post which CAT in its order had allowed. The contempt petition stated that despite lapse of the time period granted by this tribunal on May 11, 2016, the respondents did not comply with the order. On the other hand they filed miscellaneous application seeking condonation of delay of 124 days in filing MA (miscellaneous application) seeking extension of time and second MA to seek extension of time on August 31, 2016.
