Ayush Chauhan, a city resident, scored 99.99 percentile to top the tricity in the Common Admission Test (CAT), results of which came out today.
The 24-year-old has been getting 99 percentile for the past three years though he had always aimed at the perfect 100 percentile. “You need a perfect day for a perfect hundred,” said Ayush.
In 2015, he had scored 99.58 percentile, followed by 99.7 percentile the next year and 99.95 percentile in 2017. He wants to pursue MBA in Finance and aspires to become an investment banker.
Ayush, who hopes to get a call from the IIM Calcutta, said, “Students get disheartened when they don’t see improvement in score. Constant practice will get you through.”
“I gave 48-50 mock tests. Mock tests are very important to know what you know. You must always analyse your mock tests,” said Ayush.
Rishabh Goyal (23), a PEC alumnus, has scored 99.94 percentile in the exam. He had scored 99.60 percentile last year. A resident of Panchkula, Rishabh is presently working as a trading analyst in Kolkata. He too wants to join the IIM Calcutta.

Study time: Six hours a day
Tips for aspirants: Complete your study material. Always clear doubts. Be street smart as CAT is purely logic-based. Give mocks on weekly basis and do in-depth analysis. In run-up to the exam, give mock tests daily.
How to attempt: Don’t waste too much time on a single question. Divide an hour into sections of five minutes. I used to attempt two questions in five minutes. Go for easier questions first.

Tips for aspirants: I attempted some 25 mock tests. I never felt de-motivated if I didn’t score well in mock tests. Also, one has to keep one’s composure while attempting the exam.
How to attempt: I attempted quantitative aptitude in two rounds, as I skipped difficult questions in the first round. In verbal ability, I did three reading comprehensions first.
