CBI chargesheet lists six victims

PANCHKULA: The court of CBI Magistrate, Haryana, today handed over the chargesheet to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the castration of followers’ case.

The court of CBI Magistrate, Haryana, today handed over the chargesheet to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the castration of followers’ case. The CBI had recently filed a chargesheet against the dera chief, who was charged as the prime accused in the case with two aides — Dr MP Singh, alias Mahender Insan, and Dr Pankaj Garg. They were accused of castrating dera followers.

As per the chargesheet, there are six victims and 58 witnesses in the case. In the chargesheet, the dera chief and two others face Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 417 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation), IPC.

Ram Rahim had appeared through video conferencing.

The dera chief is lodged in Sunaria jail for raping two women followers. Dr Singh is in judicial custody in an Ambala jail in connection with the Panchkula violence on August 25 last year. On December 23, 2014, the HC had ordered a CBI probe into the charges of forced castration of dera followers. The next date in the case is slated for March 14. — TNS
