Case against midwife

The Kharar City police have registered a case under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act against Jasbir Kaur, a trained midwife at the Civil Hospital, Kharar, on the charge of handing over a newborn boy to her relative on January 11.

The Kharar City police have registered a case under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act against Jasbir Kaur, a trained midwife at the Civil Hospital, Kharar, on the charge of handing over a newborn boy to her relative on January 11. 

A complaint in this regard was filed by the SMO of the Civil Hospital. It was stated that Shabnam (18), a resident of Mamopur village, had delivered a boy on January 10. Jasbir Kaur, a trained midwife, who was present in the labour room, handed over the child to one of her relatives the next date. According to the complaint, the midwife even sent the mother of the newborn to home without informing anybody. This matter was reported to the SMO by staff nurses. — OC
